Book Your Own Shore Trips
While On Your Cruise
One of the big costs when taking a cruise vacation is
all the shore trips. When you stop into various ports and
other locations, there will always be a bunch of
activities offered. Scuba diving, treks, tours ... you
name it!
Going on these various excursions is great and very
worthwhile (don't think you need to skip it), but
they can add up to a huge increase in the cost of
your trip if you're not careful.
The trips are expensive for one reason...
...both the excursion operator and
the cruise line want to make a profit.
If you go with the trips or excursions offered by the cruise
line, then they will obviously get a cut of the price you
pay. The operator supported by the cruise may not even be
the best value for money, as the cruise line may select a
cheaper operator to boost their own profit margins!
So what you do is simply take out that cost by finding your
own activity operator. This is an art to how you do this,
and how to be prepared before the cruise even begins.
